Steps in scheduling

  • We book a time that fits with your schedule and ours. 
  • We confirm the scheduling time 24 to 48 hours before hand.
  • Our driver will contact you when he is on the way to your place.
  • Stallion Van lines can coordinate a full range of third party services including appliance disconnects/reconnects and other mechanical items that require special servicing for transport.



Before we start packing

We do a walk through

  • Of your house to identify areas of concern for protection and items that will need extra special attention in packing.
  • We review the estimated packing time and confirm that we will be able to meet the estimate.
  • If our packers feel they need more time or people, they will put together an action plan and run it by you for approval. 

 

We protect your home

  • Our Stallion Van Lines operator will pad your staircase banisters and railing.
  • We will lay down floor runners to protect your carpet and flooring.
  • When needed, we will also place padding around your doorways.



Packing

Protecting items that damage or scratch easily

  • Today’s flat screen LCD, LED and Plasma televisions are expensive and delicate. Ideally these should be packed in the original manufacturer’s carton. If this isn’t available, your loading van foreman will  wrap the TV in micro foam - this is a very soft-sided material that will provided additional protection against scuffing or scratching.
  • Stainless steel appliances, lacquered furniture and other items that scratch easily require extra protection. Again, we will use micro foam that will provide additional protection against scuffing or scratching
  • Custom wooden crates can be made for oversize oil paintings, marble table tops, slate tops for pool tables, antique pieces and other valuable possessions.
  • Special equipment like appliance carts are always used to ensure maximum safety.

 

China to Chandeliers

  • Heavy duty double-walled china barrels are used for fine china and crystal. Each dish is carefully packed in clean news- print and each bundle is placed over a layer of crushed paper in a china barrel. On average you can get a full 84 - 92 piece dinner set or one 53 piece dinner set and 30-40 pieces of crystal or glassware in a china barrel.
  • Four Cube and Lamp Shade Cartons are used for delicate lampshades. These cartons can also be used for six to eight small kitchen appliances, (i.e. toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle etc.). Special cartons are be used for larger table lamps.
  • Specially designed, expandable double walled mirror cartons are used for mirrors, table-top glass and artwork. They are available in small and large sizes.
  • Valuable chandeliers can be fully protected by our specially designed, triple walled chandelier cartons with hanging bar. Oversize chandeliers can be crated.

 

Wardrobe

  • Dust proof, reinforced wardrobe cartons keep clothing and drapes neat and clean so they can be hung up at your new home.







Mattress & Box Springs

  • Your mattresses & box springs will be protected in our special, high density 5ml. plastic bags similar to what is used by manufacturers. Sizes range from crib to king including oversize for pillow top mattresses.






Home electronics and computers

  • Special care will be taken with your sound system components, computers and other electronics.









Pianos to Cars

  • Pianos of various sizes can be safely moved. Disassembly by a certified piano technician is usually required for grand or baby grand pianos. You should plan on having your piano re-tuned at destination.
  • We will be pleased to arrange the transport of your vehicle(s) on a door-to-door basis through a company who moves vehicles  and vehicles alone.  This is a fully insured service handled by experts.  Your vehicles(s) may travel on their own schedule either before or after your household belongings are loaded and on their way. 

Self packing tips

  • Our Two Cube Carton - If you are looking for ways to save on your move, you might consider packing some of your non-breakable items. A two-cube carton is ideal for books or kitchen canned goods. Two feet of shelf space of these items can be packed in this size of carton.
  • Our Six Cube Carton - This size of carton is ideal for packing bed linens, pillows and towels. Remember the larger the carton, the lighter the contents.

What is illegal for us to move

  • By law, we are unable to ship pressurized items on our vans as they may explode in transit. This includes propane tanks and aerosols. Other non- admissibles include caustic drain cleaners and flammables like gasoline, paint thinners, charcoal starters etc.



 

Loading

Starts with clean professional equipment

  • As an Atlas agent, Stallion Van Lines has a modern fleet of tractor-trailers with all of the proper equipment including clean moving pads, logistic straps and decking bars.
  • We always use special equipment like appliance carts to ensure maximum safety.
  • Your vehicles(s) may travel on their own schedule either before or after your household belongings are loaded and on their way. 

Protecting your furniture and home

  • Your furniture and appliances will be fully protected by thick, cushioned, clean moving pads. Any items disassembled at origin will be reassembled at destination. All hardware pieces will be placed in our specially designed “set-up” carton for safekeeping.
  • Light-coloured upholstered furniture will be cover with clear plastic stretch-wrap before being wrapped in a clean, quilted moving pad.
  • Your Stallion Van Lines operator will pad your staircase banisters and railings before moving any items up or down the stairs. We will also lay down floor runners to protect your carpet and flooring. If necessary we will also pad around doorways.



Short or long term storage

There is a range of things we can do to help you

  • In addition to our traditional van service, Atlas can offer a domestic container service to and from a number of Canadian cities. Instead of sharing van space on a trailer, you have exclusive use of your container(s). The only limitation is very over-sized or over-long items that cannot fit into a container and will be shipped separately.
  • Atlas containers provide a clean, safe, weather-proof environment for your possessions. You can even put your own padlock on the container. The containers are shipped on a flat-bed truck.
  • Containers are a particularly good option for customers who require short-term storage for approximately 30-60 days.
  • Our 20,000 square foot, indoor storage facility provides a dust-free and secure atmosphere.  All items are padded and packed in containers that have removable doors and then sealed.  Temperature is maintained at a controlled level, so that there is no wear and tear or build up of mold and mildew.
  • Sofas and other large upholstered pieces are stretch-wrapped and placed on racking in the warehouse.
  • A full inventory and condition report is done prior to storage.  We will take a detailed listing of all of your boxes, furniture and outdoor items - every single item will receive a numbered tag eliminating the possibility of mix up or loss.  You will receive a copy of this inventory when your belongings are loaded from your current home so that you will have this inventory for reference when your belongings deliver to your new home.
  • Our van foreman will provide you with a “bingo sheet” just prior to delivery so that you are able to check off your belongings as they are delivered into your new home.  This will prevent the possibility of missing items, but in the unlikely event there is a missing item, we have a “paper trail” for the item in question.
  • A simple phone call can arrange for delivery once a new destination is provided.
